SHIT JUST GOT REEEEAAALL
Update your bookmarks…
The Plain Sight website has been updated. Rather than have a mirror of our development blog on plainsightgame.com, we’ve decided to divert all blog-hungry traffic to beatnikgames.co.uk.
Other small changes include: it now works with the RUBBISH Internet Explorer, an updated FAQ and *new* screenshots.
Oh my!
Have a great weekend!

Eurogasm
We’re now back in the office after Eurogamer Leeds / London destroyed us with a week of unfiltered awesome.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our stand (that, out of pure charity and pity Eurogamer gave to us gratis) and didn’t hate our game. Even if you did hate it, we love you anyway.
Check out our Flickr for a grand slam of photos along with a (bit of a rubbish) video. (below)
Showing and yelling…
In a slight panic, I’m hammering out a talk I’m supposed to give at tomorrow night’s post-Eurogamer ‘Show and Yell’ event.
We’re allowed to talk about pretty much anything for seven minutes. Currently, our greatest achievement so far is NOT releasing a game. So, at the moment, the title of the topic is: “It’s not ready yet…”
The title will probably change. But the basic premise is how fluid group-led game design can hinder tight development schedules—basically, it’s a massive list of the things we think we did wrong. (and a few that we did right)
So, for some visual fodder, I decided to go back through all our old artists sketchbooks. I think this little gem is the first accurate concept shot of Plain Sight. It was done in about 30 seconds by Hin (sadly no longer part of the Beatnik team) and remained unseen. It’s ace and still captures what we’re going for…
Hope to see some of you at Eurogamer on Friday and Saturday. I’ll be the guy standing by a machine running Plain Sight – who’d have thought?

Resolve
Have you ever wondered what happens to an enemy robot when they are caught in your self detonation?

This is a busy week for Beatnik we should have a good week of posts to read from the team, keep your eyes peeled.
Fight The Knight
While our robots have been fighting each other in an endless battle between the bad and the badass, this guy (Sir Cogsworth, as he likes to be known) has been travelling the globe on a crusade to become number one!
From what we gather, he has upgraded himself quite substantially. Now he’s on his way back to Plain Sight to show those other bots who’s the real champion.
The Knight has returned. Fight the Knight!
“Become pack leader”
As many of you may well be aware, we’re in the very busy process of creating an epic little jaunt for the good people over at Channel 4. To make sure you don’t get oh so lonely on your Beatnik crafted quest, we’ve jointly given birth to a very lovable little fella to keep you company. Now he’s not the brightest of companions as Nick (my new ninja accomplice) and I have quickly found out, but he is one of the most brave and cute, as John (our resident hob nob enthusiast), has made sure of with his sterling modeling/animation work.
So, to help us train the little blighter and to keep him out of mischief, we’ve crafted a handsome custom navigation system that Columbus himself would fall over his precious little boat to use. Needless to say we wouldn’t expect our mere mortal readers to understand the complex workings of such a divine creation. Instead we shall leave you to stare at these wondrous screenshots, allowing you to spiral in fabulous conjecture at how you suppose such a finely tuned solution might come to pass.
(Here’s a hint: It has nothing at all to do with satsumas on strings…honest)
IT LIVES!!!
Thank god that’s over!
A decision has been made to make Beatnik Games website the core development blog with Plain Sight specific news also posted onto the Plain Sight website.
This means that if you want the latest news, head over to beatnikgames.co.uk
Also, we’ve (once again) switched forums. As much as we loved vBulliten it didn’t tie into any of our websites, which kinda sucked. The new system being used (Expression Engine) will allow us to fully integrate all our websites/members and forums.
In other news, we’ll be at the wonderful Eurogamer Expo at the end of this month. If you’re in Leeds or London and fancy having a bash on the latest build of Plain Sight (or just want to say ‘hi’) , please swing by!
