Hey Folks,
Afraid we’re not having another beta - sorry!
We are hitting our first release candidate this weekend, so we’re aiming to release the game mid-July (with a demo around the same time).
There are still a few bugs in the game that need to be fixed, the servers (patching, serial, dedicated and master) all needed to be tested and we need a month of tweaking and fixing before we go gold at the end of June.
To answer the skill question: Previously when you pressed the ‘attack’ button you’d just shoot forward or toward the nearest enemy. In small matches this was ok, but in large games it encouraged people to just jump into a crowd and hammer the attack button.
To change this we implemented a ‘charge up’ and ‘lock on’ system. Basically, you lock onto your opponent by clicking and holding the attack button. The longer you hold it, the faster and further you go. When you let go you fire towards them in a blaze of ninja robot fury.
We’ve added a number of UI elements to make this system easy to understand such as targeting cross-hairs, targeting line etc.
It’s currently feeling pretty darn good and we’re all happy with it.
Next week I’m going to be giving the ‘About’ section a massive overhaul and you’ll get to see the final features that’ll be making it into the game
