But seriously, this game and it’s creators deserve those 8 pounds more than you. Not perfect, but brilliant.

Well this is the first game of this type (as far as I know) and considering it’s not a big gaming company making it I think they did a great job with it. The graphics are better than flash games, the engine is better than them, and most of all, the idea is CREATIVE. Infinity Ward and Valve make FPS games. They have been made for years but now, one brave and hopefull group of people comes alonng and makes a great game. Sure, there are many glitches and a lot of people who can’t play it but you have to remember that this game was made by a small group of people. They don’t have millions to spend on fixing every single error. Don’t worry, they will be fixed because the dev’s listen to suggestions and bug complaints. So, if you want the game to be better tell them what is wrong about it and they will see what they can do.

Agreed that there are limits to what a game developer with limited staff and funds can accomplish; I do programming myself, and I’ve been a “one man crew” before, so I know the ins and outs reasonably well.

I still think that the game, as is (well, as of when I posted this; I haven’t played it since) simply isn’t very fun—it’s a great idea, it could be fixed and made much more playable, but when I tested it out, it was beta-quality software.

If I’d been invited to beta-test this game, and pre-order it based on liking it enough, I would probably have done so—but I didn’t want to have spent my money on something I wasn’t going to enjoy without knowing it wasn’t fully ready yet.

Thank goodness for the ignore option… some people just don’t have anything useful to say.

Dude, you paid 8 pounds for a game and got annoyed when it wasn’t everything you expected. You can ignore me all you want, I’m sure you’ll look at this anyway. Your expectations may have been to high, I don’t know, nor do I care. But you’re complaining about the aspects of the game that make it what it is. To bad you don’t like it, at least the developers got your money.

It’s sad when people are really complaining about an indie game company having a couple bugs, or have the game “polished,” enough to be released. Go look at other indie companies and their games. How many are worth the $5-$10 that they are priced? Not many. Also, if you do find one that is worth the price, how long did you play it for? Until you beat the game and then quit and it just sits on your computer until you decide to delete it? My point is, this is a great indie game, and a great online game at that. I play this game more than any game that I have, including EVERY valve game out, The Saboteur, Warhammer, Napolean Total War, etc. I have most games that people say are great, and still play this much more than them.

Please tell me how many negatives you see about this game? A bug or two? Yeah, that’s expected in all new games especially when they are online games. Plus, the community is active in fixing the bugs and even actually listening to the players ideas on what should be implemented into the game.

Beatnik is by far one of the best indie companies I’ve seen, and even on the top 10 of my all time list, even the big corporations.
Go back to your Modern Warfare 2.

This feels like a beta.

I’ve paid for this game, and something about it—somewhere between the uncontrollable camera jittering, the bizarre inertial mechanics, and the utterly retarded lock-on system (maybe it works for some people; certainly not for me), which is exacerbated by the fact that manually charging someone doesn’t damage them… there’s just not a lot of fun to be had—the game lacks polish and feels, well, amateurish.

I’ll probably check back in a few months, to see if patching has fixed the issues, but I suspect it won’t get handled—the lack of testing is evident, when I hit a null pointer deref in my first online session—that sort of thing speaks to a messy or poorly maintained code base, IMO, and that’s not a promising sign.

unfortunately I have to agree with you - oh well at least it was only 8 quid wasted :)

Thirded. The camera is completely uncontrollable. Say what you want, but I expect a middle ground between a birds eye view and a nice view of my crotch. And yes, I did try putting the sensitivity down. I expected a lot from this game, with it’s quirky and funny ads on steam to the great community it has, but I’m really disappointed. :/

OP is derping hard.
Minecraft has plenty of bugs, yet I paid for it.
I can’t even make an account on this game and I still don’t think it’s all that bad.
Besides, it’s 8 pounds. Go wash a car.

Indeed. I came here from Minecraft forums as well and I’m enjoying both games.

I have yet to successfully finish a game due to “a bug or two”.
