We’ve been utterly blow away by the response to Plain Sight, we’re still reeling from all the kind words floating around the internet.

However we do realise that, as it is a multiplayer game, for Plain Sight it to survive in the long term it needs new content.

So, over the next month or so we’re going to be working toward a big old patch for the game. After listening to feedback from all of you, we’ve decided to add a persistent perk system into Plain Sight. These perks will be earned over many games and should provide you with some tactical advantages. Currently we’ve got loads of awesome ideas on what we’re going to implement however we’re also keen to hear your thoughts…fire away in the forums.

Also, the patch will have a number of new maps and a bunch of other (super secret) stuff. Fun times!

In the meantime we’ll continue to patch bugs and glitches.

PS: I’m off to Thailand for a few weeks holiday. Damien will be taking on my role of forum-frequenter / tech support guru. Huzzah!

Please be really careful with this. It can make it hard for new players to get into the game if they’re constantly being destroyed by players with more perks. It can already hard when entering a game that’s been going for several minutes, even with the points you have after you die the first time.

Agreed.

My current top three games are indie multiplayer games. All of which are absolutely unique and interesting otherwise they probably wouldn’t have caught my eye in the first place. Also, all of which are releasing large updates to enhance replayability so to speak.

I see a lot of posts worrying about whether these developers will make the right move or not. I tend to have faith in the independent companies so in my mind, I can only see Beatnik Games just bring more to the table that we’re going to love.

I just got the game and I like it as it is.

Why should we keep perks over multiple games? What does that add?
I really can’t imagine why this would be great unless you get to apply to a perk at the start of the game immediately. Like 10 points at the start.

Other than that there’s no good that comes to my mind and only bad things instead fill my mind. D:

Which only makes me wonder if we get an option to turn this off as a server setting.

It’s like adding achievements for people who play games for achievements.. Some people play Plain Sight competitively (sickening, isn’t it? sick), and adding perks would probably mean that those people will stick around longer. At least until they get them all.

At least, that’s the business point of view raspberry

NeatNit’s gots some neato points dere.

The game seems to by dying, so the last thing we need is those disgusting “competive” players leaving. They’re part of our community! ^^

That’s funny, because when I open a game between 7pm and 12pm (gmt+1) I easily get at least 5 players(and often more than 10 players) and I’m working on bonding the people together a bit already to get more games going. Those are few people but they play regularly if there is a game going on.  So they like your game already and are like me telling everyone how great this game is. Sadly I now feel obliged for the sake of my own credibility to stop promoting your game mouth-to-mouth as this direction looks troubling.

We need a good game to play, not an addictive game. So adding addictive elements to the game will not contribute to the game itself and will in this young stage only harm the little amount of players you have now.

People simply do not know your games is awesome! They need to know how awesome it is now. There needs to be promotion, maybe you can give us some material we can show to our friends to get it going? Or stuff to make it interesting to help you find new costumers and players.

Hey, I mostly agree with you. I’m just trying to explain the reasoning behind it raspberry

One thing I’d like you to understand, though - it’s not my game. I’m just the forum moderator wink

I am sure that the perks are not going to make THAT much difference. You would probably easily be able to ignore them.

One example of a perk system that went well is Killing Floor. Sure, it’s a coop game so nobody is in an unfair situation because the better his teammates, the better for him, but still, it can be done right.

Only time will tell. Please do not stop spreading the word!

So I logged on today to find patch 1.0.1.6 released.

...

Some patch notes would be nice. I came on here hoping to find some information and it seems you haven’t even posted patch notes for 1.0.1.5! What’s the point in releasing patches if you’re not even going to tell us what you’ve fixed!

Ok, I can’t find it right now :( but 1.0.1.5 did some… stuff. But it also broke stuff. 1.0.1.6 fixed those broken stuff.

Still looking for the 1.0.1.5 post…
