Account Server
Sorry there was a slight problem with the account server and I think for the last 2 days it wasn’t registering any new accounts. All fixed now. I’m looking into fixing the status reporting of our servers.
Under New Managment
Hello World!
We’re sorry we’ve been so quiet over the past few months. We had a bit of a rocky time internally (not to mention some server issues) but now we’re back better than ever! We’ve got some really exciting things all lined up, but for now all we can tell you is: we’ve been giving Plain Sight a lot more love to say sorry for being so quiet!
Even though we’ve been tinkering away at Plain Sight, we still need your input and feedback so we can make Plain Sight that much more awesome! So please drop by our forums and say hello! We love to hear from you! For any great ideas (or for generally making us laugh) we’ll honor you by giving you a limited edition Plain Sight poster!
Love,
Beatnik Games

Quick Update

Dear World,
The reason we’ve been so quiet is because we’re working like crazy. We still love you, dont worry.
There are a number of exciting things on the horizon; the launch of Ada, new members of the team, redesigned web-based shenanigans and thoroughly amazing Plain Sight PSN revelations. Stay tuned!

Oh dear…
Oh dear, the company hosting our servers decided to pull the plug on the power on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, we only discovered that everything was down when we got back to the office after the weekend.
We’re really sorry about this and shall be moving our servers in the next few weeks so this doesn’t happen again.
Prototypes!
Hello dear Beatnikians. I’m Leander and I’m the latest addition to the Beatnik office.
I joined Beatnik Games a little over a month ago, and have been working alongside some of the others in developing prototypes for new games. It’s great fun and we’ve come up with some very cool ideas. We start each week be bouncing ideas for a new game around the office, letting everyone contribute and have their say. Usually by Monday lunchtime we have something to move forward with that everyone is happy with. Luke and myself, with a fair old heap of help from John and Jack (and of course everyone else in the office continually giving their input) spend the remainder of the week making something that is playable and shows off the main ideas of the game. We’re very strict on this time scale as we don’t want to get stuck on one thing; this is very much an exploratory phase of game design. It also means we are very focused on getting what we need to get done within a week. We’ve been doing this for the last four weeks, and so far have three and a half (it is only Thursday after all) games that we enjoy playing, and each week we seem to achieve more and more.
So for your viewing pleasure, may I please present you with some screenshots of our prototypes!

We’re not quite ready to go into details of what the games are about, but that doesn’t stop you guys from having guesses at what you have to do in each game! We’re also planning on keeping you guys informed along the way, showing off what we’ve come up with whenever we have a moment to breathe. Hope you enjoy!

Aghhhhhh FIRE!!!!
Yikes! As some of you may have guessed, our wonderful 80% off Plain Sight Steam deal has caused our account servers to burst into flames.
This means that when you register an account it can take a number of attempts. Please bear with us! If you can’t get through, either keep trying or give it a few hours to cool down.
ps: thanks for buying Plain Sight! you’re all awesome…
UPDATE: looks like the problem has been mostly solved - with a restart!!! Looks like mysql service went a bit rogue and took up all the CPU - good times! any issues, ping me an email on .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
V1.2 lives!

After months of work, version 1.2 of Plain Sight has gone (rather quietly) live. We’re keeping all our fingers and toes crossed that this’ll be a totally bug-free affair, however, as with all these things in game development, there might be a few slight hiccups along the way.
If you encounter any mischief, please report it in our wonderful forum machine.
So, what’s new? Well, the biggest change we’ve made to the game is adding a persistent power-up system. Now, rather than being randomly awarded with a power-up upon collecting a star, you must collect stars to buy power-ups; once purchased you can pick up to three before each game. You can activate your equipped power-ups whenever you like, but each power-up has a different cool-down period once it’s been used.
On paper the new system looks fair, however only though your feedback can we get this perfect. Again, head to the forum vortex.
So, the list of power-ups is now as follows:
- Vacuum Bomb
- Decoy Gentleman Robot
- Perk Free Zone
- Lock Breaker
- Bing Bang
- Invulnerable Shield
- Flaming Sword
- Ninja Stealth
- Chain Detonation

In unrelated news, we’re flattered that those scurvy internet pirates have felt us worthy of their time. Currently doing the rounds is an out of date, LAN only version of Plain Sight. We’ve downloaded it and it works, so I guess if you’re too cheap to spend $10 you can play all alone offline.
Well credit where credit is due, it works. Which is far more commendable than this laughably awful effort
(Seriously guys, a keygen for a multiplayer online game? C’mon… you have to try a bit harder than that. Also, why are you hiding the serial numbers you generate? Weird!!)
